Title Explanation

Hi Sisters!

Thank you for visiting my blog! I hope these posts will challenge and encourage you as you pursue Jesus and His Kingdom. Let me start by explaining the title “By the River Together.”

My inspiration came from the story about Lydia in Acts. “And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to the riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together. One who heard us was a woman named Lydia” (Acts 16:13-14a). Women were not tag-a-longs in the Jesus movement, but they were vital to its growth and were co-laborers in the faith. This is still true today and we cannot do this alone. We flourish as we bond together as sisters, grow together, sharpen one another, and strive in God’s Kingdom side-by-side.

Other sources of inspiration came from the many Scriptures which use the imagery of a river, a stream, or a spring of water. These references allude to the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, healing, going to battle and much more! Jesus says that if we come to Him, out from us will flow rivers of living water (John 7:37-39). Therefore, we do not simply come to the Water for our own sake, but also for the sake of others we are meant to impact. We have been given a mission to reach the ends of the earth (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8). These are serious matters of life and death; there’s no time to waste!

I’m hoping this space will be used for:

  1. Women to come together around the Word of God
  2. Women to find a sense of sisterhood in spite of the distance and space between us
  3. Women to be challenged to do the work and mission of our Lord Jesus Christ; who desire to see God’s Kingdom come in and through their lives

Thank you again sisters!
